Before the work begins

If you have not yet been contacted by a member of our Area Investment team or received Decent Homes improvements, we will be assessing your home to find out if it meets the Sheffield Decent Homes standard.

Meet the builder events

We and the partner contractor will both write to you with an invitation to a local Meet the Builder event. Here, you will be able to ask any questions regarding work to be carried out to your home. You will also be able to choose from kitchen units and floor and wall tiles for your property. You will also be asked for contact details and be invited to attend future project groups.

Decent Homes Project Groups

Before the work actually begins in your area, you can ensure your voice is heard by joining your Project Group.

Project Groups meet every month - before and during the work - and provide a forum for tenants, residents, members of the Area Investment Team, contractors and councillors to all get involved and contribute to the local investment programme for individual estates.

Sheffield Decent Homes DVD

Please contact your local Investment Team or contractor to view our 15 minute DVD, which provides a step-by-step guide to all the work that will be carried out. It contains footage of tenants who have already experienced the improvement work and their views.

The DVD is available in English with subtitles in the following languages: Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, French, Kurdish (Kumanji), Kurdish (Sorani), Portuguese, Punjabi (Gurmukhi), Somali and Urdu.
