What is First Come, First Served?
 |
The homes we offer through our First Come, First Served scheme are age-banded studio and one-bedroom flats. Properties have usually been advertised through the bidding system, but no eligible bids made for them. This makes them available on a first come, first served basis.
They could be anywhere in the city. If you are over 60 we have a choice of flats in different sheltered schemes across Sheffield.
To apply for these properties you must be registered with Sheffield City Council. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been registered long; we offer properties to the first person who meets the letting criteria, regardless of waiting time or priority. You will still have to pass our checks on debts owed to the Housing Service, history of anti social behaviour and condition of your council tenancy.
|
If you accept one of these homes, you will keep your original registration date. This means you can continue to save your waiting time in case you wish to move again in the future.
If you have been awarded priority and accept a First Come, First Served home, you will lose your priority but you will keep your original registration date. You can only apply for a property in person, by contacting staff at the Sheffield Property Shop, First Point and any area housing office, or by telephone on 0114 293 0000 (Sheffield North and Sheltered Housing) or 0114 205 3333 (Sheffield South).
Only one First Come, First Served application can be made at any one time.
